Zara’s New Return Policy: What You Need to Know

[mailpoet_form id=”5″]

Just when you thought online clothes shopping couldn’t get any trickier, Zara shakes things up with a change in its return policy. Now, this fast-fashion giant is charging customers for returns, and it looks like other retailers may soon follow suit.

Zara used to provide free shipping for returns, but they’re now deducting return shipping costs from customers’ refund amounts. But how much is Zara charging for returns? Are there other stores set to adopt this approach? Which stores are already charging for shipping? Let’s delve into the specifics.

Zara’s Online Return Charges: A $3.95 Deduction From Your Refund

In May, Zara’s UK customers discovered they’d be charged £1.50 for their online returns. As of June 22, 2022, US online shoppers began getting charged $3.95 to return their online orders. Here’s how it works:

  • Customers initiate a return from Zara.com, provided it is within 30 days from the purchase date.
  • A return label is emailed to them, which they print and affix to any properly sealed package containing the item being returned.
  • They deliver the order to their local post office, referred to as “drop points” on Zara’s website.
  • Upon receipt, the customer gets their refund, less the $3.95 return shipping fee.

Zara’s In-Store Returns Remain Free

You can dodge the $3.95 fee by visiting your nearest Zara store to make a return. Here’s the step-by-step process to carry out a Zara in-store return:

  • You don’t need to place a return request if you’re heading back to the brick-and-mortar store.
  • Bring along the original packaging and tags – it’s fine if the packaging is open or the tags have been removed.
  • Ensure you have a physical receipt or a digital copy on your phone to show the cashier.
  • Return your purchase to the Zara in your locality or region.

Remember to have the original packaging and tags when you bring back your purchase. It’s completely acceptable if the tags are detached and the packaging is already opened.
