If you’ve got items to return to Walmart, you can now do so without leaving the comfort of your couch! Walmart has now made it possible to return online orders, including groceries, by scheduling a free pickup right from your home. It’s about time online order returns became as simple as placing the orders!
Please note that this service is currently only available to Walmart Plus members. Also, depending on your location, not all members might have access to this option yet.
Walmart began offering this service to selected Walmart Plus members in September 2022. If you’re one of the privileged ones with this perk, let’s take a detailed look at how it works and what you should be aware of.
1. Only Walmart.com Purchases Can be Picked Up From Home
To qualify for the Walmart free return pickup, the items you’re returning must have been purchased from Walmart.com (i.e., a Walmart warehouse), not from a third-party vendor on Walmart.com. The item listing will state “Sold and shipped by Walmart” if it originates from the Walmart warehouse and not a third-party seller.
2. Begin the Return Process via the Walmart App or Walmart.com
Whether you’re using the Walmart app (iOS / Android) or browsing online, simply navigate to your purchase history and select “Start a Return.” Choose the item(s) you wish to return and follow the prompts. For your return method, select “Return from home” to use the Walmart free return pickup feature (if it’s available). Remember, only Walmart Plus members can avail of this feature.
3. Select a Return Pickup Date and Time
Bear in mind that you’ll need to be home when your Walmart delivery driver arrives to pick up your return.
4. Walmart Handles Packaging and Labeling
When your Walmart delivery driver arrives at the agreed time, simply greet them at the door, have them scan the QR code in your app, and hand over your item. You don’t even need to provide a box or a label. You can expect to receive your refund to your original payment method within 24 hours.
5. Use FedEx Drop-Off if You Can’t Be Home for the Pickup
If you’re unable to meet the delivery driver at your doorstep as required, simply select “Drop off at FedEx” as the return method in your app or online. The staff at your nearest FedEx will scan your QR code, and they’ll handle the rest, all for free!
